Basketball Recap: Santa Maria Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Santa Maria took on La Villa on Friday. The Santa Maria Cougars fell 51-38 to the La Villa Cardinals. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 60-42.

It was another big night for Herlinda Rivera, who posted 19 points for La Villa. The team also got some help courtesy of Nylah Patterson, who put up nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Santa Maria and nudges their season record down to 9-13. As for La Villa, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Santa Maria nor La Villa have any future games scheduled.
