Softball Game Preview: Plant City Raiders vs. Alonso Ravens

Plant City hasn't had much luck against Alonso recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Plant City Raiders will face off against the Alonso Ravens at 7:00 p.m. Alonso took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Plant City, who comes in off a win.

Plant City is headed out to face Alonso after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Plant City never let Strawberry Crest onto the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Raiders have posted against the Chargers since March 14, 2019.

Strawberry Crest's batters probably weren't too happy with Kyleigh Gibbs, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up four walks).

At the plate, Plant City got a massive performance out of Samantha Raines, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Kayleigh Gibbs was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Plant City hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strawberry Crest struck out 11 times.

Meanwhile, Alonso fell victim to Plant and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 18-0 to the Panthers. The Ravens have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Alonso saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kristina Vega, who went a perfect1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Plant City came up short against Alonso in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 4-1. Can Plant City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
