Soccer Game Preview: Washington-Liberty vs. Alexandria City

The Washington-Liberty Generals will square off against the Alexandria City Titans at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Washington-Liberty is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Yorktown just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1.

Despite a strong season so far, Alexandria City has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Braddock on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Alexandria City came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Lake Braddock are ranked 134th).

Alexandria City's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Washington-Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Everything went Washington-Liberty's way against Alexandria City in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Washington-Liberty made off with a 4-1 victory. Do the Generals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
