Baseball Recap: St. Cloud Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

St. Cloud proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Harmony Longhorns 8-7. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Longhorns back in February, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Sean Gallagher looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sammy Echeverry, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Drew Kelley, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

St. Cloud's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Harmony, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.

Coming up, St. Cloud will host Hopkins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Cloud is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Harmony, they will take on Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Eau Gallie will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Harmony surely won't give up without a fight.
