Softball Recap: Foothills Christian Knights vs. Madison Warhawks
Foothills Christian lost against Madison last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Foothills Christian Knights fell just short of the Madison Warhawks by a score of 7-6.
Hannah Mroz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with a triple, a run, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Gomez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Foothills Christian was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with three doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison didn't hit any.
On Madison's side, Audrina Burnett made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off 11 hits. Burnett was even better at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Vivianne Guevara was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Zekyrah Chambers, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Foothills Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for Madison, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11-1.
As of now, neither Foothills Christian nor Madison have any future games scheduled.
