Softball Recap: Pinellas Park Patriots vs. Northside Christian Mustangs
Pinellas Park had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They won by a run and slipped past the Northside Christian Mustangs 7-6. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs on Wednesday, too.
Madison Wagner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over two innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Wagner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ayanah Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Auhbree Northrup, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Pinellas Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northside Christian only posted a batting average of .281.
Northside Christian is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Pinellas Park will square off against Hollins at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. As for Northside Christian, they will face off against Admiral Farragut at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
