Baseball Game Preview: Timberline Wolves vs. Mountain View Mavericks

The Timberline Wolves will head out to challenge the Mountain View Mavericks at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Timberline took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Eagle, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves skirted past the Mustangs 3-1.

Diego Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isaac Mills, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. He has become a key player for Timberline: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 6-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aidan Messerschmitt, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Mountain View faced Eagle in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mavericks came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 7-3. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Seth Hecox was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Cooper Schneidt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Mountain View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Timberline's record now sits at 8-16. As for Mountain View, their record is now 16-8.
