Spring Valley took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Chaparral, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Grizzlies skirted past the Cowboys 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Grizzlies: when they faced off against the Cowboys back in March, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

Spring Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 16-14.

Dylan Agustin paced Spring Valley's offense, picking up 19 kills. Agustin got some help from Zaydeus Palado and his 49 assists. Finally, Cooper Turner kept Spring Valley's defense grounded, leading the team with 12 blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Chaparral lost on Tuesday, don't look at Jordan Pierce. Despite the final result, he had 20 kills, 12 digs, and four aces. Pierce is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last 48 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Izaeya Tili, who had 24 digs and two aces.

The win snapped Spring Valley's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 5-12 record. As for Chaparral, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

Spring Valley has already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Amplus Academy on the 21st. As for Chaparral, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Basic on the 18th.
