Baseball Recap: Mount Tahoma Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Peninsula, Mount Tahoma was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lincoln Abes 8-6. The T-Birds haven't had any issues with the Abes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Jacob Kerwood was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mount Tahoma is 2-1 when Kerwood allows three or fewer hits, but 0-4 otherwise. Kerwood was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Bookout, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Carson Roll, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Mount Tahoma's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Lincoln, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mount Tahoma beat the Abes by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday.
