Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Dayzriana Quintana and Paula Aguirre Lead Granada to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cheyenne Wells, Granada was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-36 victory over the Swink Lions. The win was some much needed relief for the Bobcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Granada was led to victory by Paula Aguirre and Dayzriana Quintana. Aguirre dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards, while Quintana posted eight points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That's the most steals Quintana has posted since back in January of 2024. Kinsley Williams also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Granada was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Swink's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Briana McElroy, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Jocelynn James, who earned nine points.

Granada pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Swink, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Granada Bobcats duke it out with the Holly Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Swink, they will look to defend their home court on January 21st against Swallows Charter Academy at 4:30 p.m.
