Given Columbia Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Shelbyville Central is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shelbyville Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrance Johnson, who scored 11 points. Shamarion Drapper was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Columbia Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Shelbyville Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season.
