Soccer Game Preview: Melrose vs. Stoneham

The Melrose Red Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Stoneham Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Melrose is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight matches on Wednesday. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Woburn Memorial.

Meanwhile, Stoneham has been on a difficult stretch since their win on September 4. They lost 4-1 to Wakefield Memorial on Monday.

Melrose's loss dropped their record down to 6-8-2. As for Stoneham, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12-3.

Melrose came out on top in a nail-biter against Stoneham when the teams last played back in September, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Raiders since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
