Baseball Recap: Woodbridge Takes Down Ranked Polytech

Woodbridge faced Polytech in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Raiders skirted past the Panthers 4-3. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 5-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Evan Woodall made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Woodbridge is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise. Woodall was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Moran, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daulton McCabe, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Woodbridge pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Polytech, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodbridge will head out to face off against Lake Forest at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Polytech, they will venture away from home to take on Dover at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
