Volleyball Recap: Northland Prep Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but Northland Prep Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-match winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Flagstaff Eagles, falling 3-0. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in September of 2017, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-18, 25-17.

Zillah Wildblood-Crawford paced Northland Prep Academy's offense, picking up 13 kills. Wildblood-Crawford got some help from Makenna Murphy and her 22 assists. Wildblood-Crawford was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Flagstaff's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brynn Hagerman led the charge by getting 17 digs and three assists. Grace Naleski was another key player, getting 16 assists and four digs.

Northland Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Flagstaff, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-6 record this season.

Northland Prep Academy and Flagstaff should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 96th) will meet Holbrook (ranked 248th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Flagstaff will challenge Coconino at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (13 vs. 191).
