Baseball Recap: Fountain Central Comes Up Short

Fountain Central managed to slip by Clinton Prairie the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs came up short against the Gophers on Wednesday, falling 15-5. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gophers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Fountain Central has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Clinton Prairie, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fountain Central will take on Attica at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Ramblers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.08 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Clinton Prairie, they will face off against Clinton Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gophers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
