Baseball Recap: Woods Cross Gets the Win

Woods Cross came out on top against Alta on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Wildcats took their game against the Hawks 10-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2016.

Woods Cross got a big performance out of AJ Ayala, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Ayala has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Paxton Healy was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Woods Cross always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Woods Cross back to even at 7-7. As for Alta, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Woods Cross beat the Hawks by a score of 13-12 on Wednesday.
