Softball Recap: South Putnam Has No Trouble Against Cloverdale

South Putnam won the last time they faced Cloverdale and things went their way on Thursday too. The Eagles put the hurt on the Clovers with a sharp 12-6 victory. Considering the Eagles have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Taylor Boyce made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs.

In other batting news, Joslyn Bumgardner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Elliana Cox was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

South Putnam's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Cloverdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Coincidentally, South Putnam and Cloverdale will both be playing Indian Creek the next time they take the field. The Clovers will host the Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Eagles will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
