Basketball Recap: Belleview Takes a Loss

Belleview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Weir Hurricanes. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rattlers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-31 last Friday.

Lake Weir's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quran Lighty, who posted 11 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Lighty a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Antonio Jackson, who had four points and three steals.

Belleview's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Lake Weir, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Belleview will be playing in front of their home fans against North Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Weir has already played their next contest, a 74-59 defeat against Lakeland on the 18th.
