Basketball Recap: Deer Trail Takes a Loss

Deer Trail lost against Genoa-Hugo/Karval back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Deer Trail Eagles were outmatched by the Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates and fell 41-14. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval was led to victory by Kazlei Vaughn and Amy James. Vaughn posted nine points in addition to six boards and five steals, while James put up eight points and four steals. James is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Lexi James was another key player, putting up four points and nine rebounds.

Deer Trail dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, they have already played their next contest, a 42-27 victory against Kit Carson on the 15th.
