Softball Recap: Fairview Knights vs. Northfield Nighthawks
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Holy Family, Fairview was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Northfield Nighthawks 17-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Julia Savage was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Cowin, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fairview lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in August of 2023.
The win snapped Fairview's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 6-16 record. As for Northfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.

Fairview is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for Northfield, they will head out on the road to challenge Rangeview at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northfield is facing Rangeview at the right time seeing as Rangeview is stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
