Baseball Recap: Burlington-Edison Extends Winning Streak to Five

Burlington-Edison never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Meridian Trojans as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Burlington-Edison got a great performance from Zak Fleshman as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Fleshman has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Cash Cullop and Jakson Granger did most of the damage at the plate: Cullop went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI, while Granger went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Cullop a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Roetcisoender, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Burlington-Edison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the fifth in a row for Burlington-Edison, bringing their record up to 12-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Meridian, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Burlington-Edison will square off against rival Bellingham at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Meridian is set to challenge their familiar foe Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
