Basketball Recap: Webber Comes Up Short at Home Against Notre Dame

Webber unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 76-30 defeat at the hands of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday. The Tigers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row dating back to last season.

Notre Dame found their leader in freshman TJ Cephus Jr., who went 9 for 14 on his way to 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cephus Jr. has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Antinore, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Notre Dame pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Webber will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Houghton Academy at 1:00 p.m. on February 1, 2025. As for Notre Dame, they will be taking part in a tournament against Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. Notre Dame is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season.
