Basketball Recap: Bonita Springs Comes Up Short

Bonita Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 36th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 88-54 loss at the hands of the Canterbury Cougars. The Bullsharks were probably out for revenge after losing 77-57 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Bonita Springs saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Trey Bronson dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bronson has scored all season. Ayden Kirkby was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Canterbury got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle Scharlau out in front who went 8 for 12 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Meagher, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points.

Bonita Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Canterbury, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-11.

Bonita Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-49 loss against Neumann on the 9th. As for Canterbury, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-51 win against Bradenton Christian on the 9th.
