Softball Recap: Aquinas Blugolds vs. Onalaska Hilltoppers

Aquinas had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-6 to make it four. They lost 12-1 to the Onalaska Hilltoppers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in April.

Aquinas saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Scholze, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Onalaska, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

On Onalaska's side, Sydney Kraus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Kraus has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Onalaska let Zoe Koonce O'Kane and Kylie Gilhausen run wild. Koonce O'Kane went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Gilhausen got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Koonce O'Kane a new career-high. Cameron Moss also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
