Basketball Recap: Kalli Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bradshaw Mountain over Coconino

Bradshaw Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 30-28 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coconino Panthers. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Bradshaw Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kalli Smith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Smith has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Presley Connolly, who posted seven points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bradshaw Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Bradshaw Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Coconino, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Bradshaw Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-42 defeat against Mingus on the 16th. Coconino has also already played their next contest, a 54-38 loss against Cactus Shadows on the 17th.
