Baseball Recap: Robinson Takes a Loss

Robinson lost against Mount Pleasant back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Robinson Bulldogs fell just short of the Mount Pleasant Tigers by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered against the Tigers since April 14, 2017.

Robinson got a good showing from Paxton Carter, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Carter has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Aury Greenfield and Jacob Barbee stepped up to the plate in a big way. Greenfield scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Barbee got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Greenfield has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Bryson Honeycutt was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Robinson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Mount Pleasant, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robinson will challenge Central Cabarrus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Cabarrus has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.89 runs per game on average), something Robinson will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mount Pleasant, they will face off against Albemarle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mount Pleasant's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Albemarle's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
