Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Jay walked away with it. They came out on top against the Chipley Tigers on Tuesday by a score of 9-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Royals have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Layna Lowry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jay let Kiley Samford and Miley McGee run wild. Samford went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while McGee went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave McGee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carleigh Baker, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Jay's victory bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Chipley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-8.

Looking ahead, Jay will square off against Northview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chiefs will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight. Chipley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
