Football Recap: Roswell Takes a Tough Playoff Loss + How To Watch

Roswell and Thomas County Central squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Roswell had to settle for second. They lost 49-28 to the Yellow Jackets. The matchup was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but the Hornets couldn't quite close it out.

Roswell lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Trey Smith, who rushed for 81 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 345 yards and one touchdown. 200 of those passing yards were hauled in by Wills Campbell, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Christian Lawrence produced another solid effort rushing for 302 yards and three scores while picking up 12.6 yards per carry for Thomas County Central. Those 302 rushing yards gave Lawrence a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Johnson, who threw for 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt.

Roswell's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2. As for Thomas County Central, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Roswell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Thomas County Central will take on Gainesville in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets will need to watch out since the Red Elephants have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games.
