Baseball Game Preview: Oxford Wolverines vs. Seymour Wildcats

The Oxford Wolverines will face off against the Seymour Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Oxford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Oxford turned things around against Torrington on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Raiders.

Cole O'Connell tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Oxford: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Quentin Glass was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyler Bergoderi, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Seymour has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.88 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They came up short against Torrington, falling 10-3.

Oxford now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
