Baseball Game Preview: Wauseon Indians vs. Napoleon Wildcats

The Wauseon Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Napoleon Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Napoleon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wauseon, who comes in off a win.

Wauseon barely beat Edon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians came out on top against the Bombers on Friday by a score of 12-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Indians' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Napoleon has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.33 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against Perrysburg, falling 10-4. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost five in a row.

Napoleon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rowan Bostelman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. Another was Paul Sausser, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Napoleon's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5-1. As for Wauseon, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Wauseon might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Napoleon in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
