Preview: Gurdon Go-Devils vs. Junction City Dragons
Gurdon is 0-4 against Junction City since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Gurdon Go-Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Junction City Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Gurdon is hoping to put an end to a 14-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Gurdon suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 56-31 loss at the hands of Woodlawn.
Meanwhile, Junction City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 65-55 victory over Fordyce. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Montra Hankton and Deontae James were among the main playmakers for Junction City as the former scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals and the latter scored 20 points along with six assists and three steals. Hankton hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Pechone Larry, who scored eight points.
Gurdon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Junction City, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Gurdon might still be hurting after the 55-34 loss they got from Junction City when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Can Gurdon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
