Baseball Recap: North Star Cougars vs. Rockwood Rockets
North Star extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-9 in the process. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockwood Rockets. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rockets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
North Star saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Retassie, who went 3-for-4 with one double. Nate Orris was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
As for Rockwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
On Rockwood's side, Carson Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts Brown has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Max Trimpey was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nathan Show, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
North Star has already played their next game, a 7-0 victory against Ferndale on the 2nd. As for Rockwood, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-3 win against Blacklick Valley on the 2nd.
