Basketball Game Preview: Slaton Tigers vs. Littlefield Wildcats

Slaton hasn't had much luck against Littlefield recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Slaton Tigers duke it out with the Littlefield Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Slaton sitting on five straight wins and Littlefield on eight.

Last Friday, Slaton made easy work of Dimmitt and carried off a 62-38 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Littlefield didn't have too much trouble with Friona on Friday as they won 53-37. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Chieftans are ranked 1508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Slaton has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Littlefield, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6.

Slaton was able to grind out a solid victory over Littlefield in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 79-68. The rematch might be a little tougher for Slaton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
