Baseball Recap: Whitehaven Takes a Loss

Whitehaven extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 7-3. They came up short against the White Station Spartans, falling 15-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

As for White Station, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.6 runs.

For White Station's part, the team relied heavily on Demarcus Covington, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Covington has become a key player for the Spartans: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cooper Walter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitehaven will challenge Melrose at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for White Station, they will square off against St. George's at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Gryphons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
