Softball Game Preview: Robertson County Black Devils vs. Model Patriots

Robertson County is 0-4 against Model since May of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Black Devils will take on the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Robertson County has given up an average of 15.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Robertson County came up short against Ludlow two weeks ago, falling 19-4. The Black Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Model). They put the hurt on Danville with a sharp 19-3 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Admirals: they've now won eight in a row.

Kendall Maggard made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She also put up four hits, which were her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Model got a massive performance out of Kayln Renfro, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Renfro also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Addison Palm, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Model was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Robertson County's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Model, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Robertson County might still be hurting after the 18-0 defeat they got from Model in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Black Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
