Baseball Recap: Tates Creek Gets the Win

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Tates Creek and Lafayette have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Commodores came out on top against the Generals by a score of 6-1. The Commodores have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Generals, too.

Blake Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Tates Creek's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 6-10 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Finley Insko was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Tates Creek's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Lafayette, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-11.

Tates Creek will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Generals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
