Softball Recap: Austin-East Roadrunners vs. Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders
Austin-East extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 24 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They lost 17-0 to the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 1-0 loss on Tuesday.
As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-10. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.
For Gatlinburg-Pittman's part, Bailey Norris made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Norris has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sadie Moore was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Watson, who went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases and two runs.
As of now, neither Austin-East nor Gatlinburg-Pittman have any future games scheduled.
