Goddard and Andover Central are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Lions will head out to take on the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Goddard will be strutting in after a victory while Andover Central will be coming in after a defeat.
Goddard barely beat Newton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions put the hurt on the Railroaders with a sharp 11-4 win on Friday. The match marked the Lions' most dominant victory of the season.

Lincoln Jensen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Goddard is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-11 otherwise. Jensen was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Goddard let Landon Kohlhorst and Jaxson Mruk run wild. Kohlhorst went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Mruk got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Mruk is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Kane Dunlavy also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Goddard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.
Andover Central had taken Maize South down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Jaguars fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 9-8.
Goddard's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Andover Central, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.
Goddard was able to grind out a solid win over Andover Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
