Basketball Recap: East Nicolaus Comes Up Short

East Nicolaus was the 53-40 winner over Pierce when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The East Nicolaus Spartans fell 58-47 to the Pierce Bears on Friday.

Pierce was led to victory by Gavin Guynn and Jr Figueroa. Guynn posted 17 points and seven boards, while Figueroa went 6-for-11 on his way to 14 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Figueroa is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Devin Garcia was another key player, putting up eight points.

East Nicolaus dropped their record down to 12-14 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Pierce, their victory bumped their record up to 11-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Nicolaus will head out to challenge Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pierce, they are taking a road trip to take on Yreka at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pierce is facing Yreka at the right time seeing as Yreka is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
