Soccer Game Preview: Burkburnett vs. Decatur

Burkburnett hasn't had much luck against Decatur recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Burkburnett Bulldogs will square off against the Decatur Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Burkburnett has given up an average of 3.8 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Burkburnett came up short against Bridgeport on Tuesday, falling 7-2. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 660th, while the Bulls are ranked 231st).

Meanwhile, Decatur put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Graham with a sharp 5-2 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by three goals or more this season.

Decatur pushed their record up to 16-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those nine games. As for Burkburnett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

Burkburnett might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Decatur when the teams last played back in February. Can Burkburnett avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
