Football Recap: Del Oro Skates Past Foothill with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Del Oro on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Foothill Cougars out of the water with a 61-7 final score. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Golden Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Cougars are ranked 236th).

Nolen Sauve was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 229 yards and five touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (165.2). Brennen Gibbs was another key player, picking up 100 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The win (which was Del Oro's fourth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.8 points on average over those games. As for Foothill, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Del Oro will take on Oak Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Golden Eagles their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Foothill, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lassen at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
