Cowanesque Valley is 9-1 against Northern Potter since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Indians will welcome the Panthers at 1:00 p.m. Cowanesque Valley will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Cowanesque Valley made easy work of Williamson and carried off a 13-1 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.
Hunter Simonds looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Bruce, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Hamilton, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Cowanesque Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williamson only posted a batting average of .062.
15 must be Northern Potter's lucky number: they beat Smethport with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Panthers beat the Hubbers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Gaige Hohenwarter was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Hohenwarter is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Wyatt Bliss was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Cowanesque Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Northern Potter, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-8.
Cowanesque Valley took their win against Northern Potter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-5 score. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
