Baseball Game Preview: Vista Panthers vs. Westview Wolverines

The Vista Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Westview Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Vista barely beat Rancho Buena Vista the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Longhorns 10-1 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Westview waltzed into their contest on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Mission Vista. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Tyler Bissessar looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Westview got a massive performance out of Jacob Kuy, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Kuy has posted since back in March. Joseph Arango-Manley was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Westview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Vista's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Westview, their record now sits at 14-4.

Vista couldn't quite get it done against Westview when the teams last played back in March of 2022 as they fell 3-0. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
