Basketball Recap: O'connor Sets Scoring Season-High Against Boerne

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask O'Connor). They took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging an 85-58 win over the Boerne Greyhounds. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.

O'Connor had a senior duo take command as Hagen Hurst dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 boards and Ethan Bilyeu went 9-for-16 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bilyeu has scored all season. Daniel Ikwuagwu was another key player, putting up nine points.

O'Connor was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February.

O'Connor is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points over those games. As for Boerne, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

O'Connor and Boerne should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 171st) will meet Sotomayor (ranked 462nd) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Boerne will take on Smithson Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (354 vs. 857).
