Softball Recap: Madisonville-North Hopkins Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Madisonville-North Hopkins gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Crittenden County Rockets. For the Maroons, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Rockets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Sadie Kirk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Stoltz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maggie Killough, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Madisonville-North Hopkins has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Crittenden County, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-12.

Looking ahead, Madisonville-North Hopkins will host Marshall County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Marshals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Maroons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Crittenden County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Webster County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
