Baseball Recap: Clay County Comes Up Short

Clay County lost against Westmoreland back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs lost 21-4 to the Eagles. The Bulldogs' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Nolan Adams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Waylon Cherry, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Clay County's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Westmoreland, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-6 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay County will challenge Pickett County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westmoreland, they will face off against Jo Byrns at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
