Baseball Recap: Nekoosa Gets the Win

Nekoosa won the last time they faced Rosholt and things went their way on Friday too. The Papermakers came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 15-10. With that victory, the Papermakers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Matthew Winters was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Winters was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Jaxson Murray was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those runs were his first of the season. Dell Krcmar was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Nekoosa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Nekoosa's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Rosholt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Nekoosa will venture away from home to square off against Athens at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Rosholt, they will host Wild Rose at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
