The Cardinal Newman Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the San Marin Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal Newman is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cardinal Newman challenged Rancho Cotate on Friday. The Cardinals came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 14-3. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cardinals' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Cougars are ranked 204th).

Among those leading the charge was Kordel Strane, who picked up 65 receiving yards and two TDs. Cardinal Newman also got a significant boost from Pathoumnourack Malakai, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 87 yards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Marin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 35-27 win over Windsor on Friday.

Cardinal Newman's record now sits at 6-1. As for San Marin, their record is now an identical 6-1.

Everything came up roses for Cardinal Newman against San Marin in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 34-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
