Softball Recap: Pen Argyl Starts Season with Win at Home

Pen Argyl gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers. The Green Knights haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Pen Argyl let Grace Weaver and Ashlyn Oessenick run wild. Weaver went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Oessenick got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Madacyn Snyder was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Pen Argyl always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Stroudsburg South only posted an OBP of .211.

East Stroudsburg South's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Pen Argyl is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against Salisbury Township at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Stroudsburg South, they have already played their next matchup, a 5-3 win against Pocono Mountain West on the 18th.
