The West Warwick Wizards will head out on the road to face off against the East Greenwich Avengers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. West Warwick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither West Warwick nor St. Raphael Academy made it on the board until the eighth inning. The Wizards skirted past the Saints 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wizards have posted since April 24, 2024.

Bryce Principe spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Adrianna Carsetti was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Allie Iannotti was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, East Greenwich faced Johnston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Avengers blew past the Panthers 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Avengers, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kayleigh Chaiyabhat made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Chaiyabhat was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Fairbanks, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sarah Levy, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
East Greenwich kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Johnston only managed four hits.
East Greenwich pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for West Warwick, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-5.
West Warwick might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from East Greenwich when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Wizards avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
